Sugathadasa and Digana Stadiums get green light

Singer League Round 2


 

The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Defense to host round 2 of the Singer League 2019 rugby encounters at the Sugathadasa Stadium (Colombo) and Digana Stadium (Kandy) matches with the kick off scheduled for 1 June.

These two venues are safe according to the defence authorities, with the majority of the games attracting more than 3,000 spectators.

Minister of Sports and former Joes playerHarin Fernando has also agreed to release the Sugathadasa Stadium every Wednesday to Sunday for the remaining league matches to be played.

According to a reliable source, Royal College and Trinity College are to play their Bradby Shield encounters at Pallekelle (first leg) and Royal Sports Complex (2nd leg). Datesare yet to be fixed while the first leg encounter in Kandy will be the league game. (SJ)
