Standard Chartered’s five-a-side futsal tournament, the SC Cup 2019, will be played on Friday, 21 June 2019 at the Racecourse Grounds, Colombo – 07.
Sri Lankan football enthusiasts will witness the SC Cup for the 04thyear with the tournament being played in the evening under floodlights for the first time.
The winners of the tournament will receive a trip to the United Kingdom to watch the recently crowned Champions of Europe - Liverpool Football Club in action at a Premier League match played at the Red’s iconic Anfield Stadium later this year, which also includes a tour of the Anfield Stadium.
This money can’t buy experience is especially memorable this year as Liverpool FC recently beat Tottenham Hotspur to become the winners of the Champions League. This spectacular victory is the sixth in the history of the club; their last victory being in 1985. “Standard Chartered is organising this tournament for the fourth year and we are pleased to see the interest grow among our clients. Seventeen client teams representing the Commercial and Global Banking businesses will compete and vie to be named Champions at the SC Cup 2019. MAS Active Trading (Kreeda Division) emerged victorious in 2018 and the team spent time in Liverpool meeting LFC legends and witnessing a home ground match. Other winners include EXPO Lanka Group and WNS Global Services.
Participating client teams include JAT Holdings Ltd, Forbes Air Services Ltd, H-Connect Ltd, John Keells Holdings PLC, Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka Ltd, The Solutions Group Ltd, DBS Logistics Ltd., Findmyfare Ltd., Dialog Axiata PLC, Lanka Sporting Goods Ltd, David PierisMotor Company Ltd, Courtaulds Clothing Lanka Ltd, Brandix Apparel Ltd, Veolia Water Technologies.
The teams will be split into four groups and play the first round in a round robin format. The winners of each group will then proceed to play in the semi-finals and the final thereafter.
