St. Sylvester’s miss out on win against Vidyartha in 60th Battle of the Babes

St. Sylvester’s College missed out on a possible win against their traditional rivals Vidyartha College in their 60th encounter played at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium yesterday. 

The encounter is known as the Battle of the Babes. In reply to Vidyartha’s score of 229, St. Sylvester’s made 300 for 6 with a fine knock of 101 from Manoharan Pavitharan inclusive of 10 boundaries and one huge six while his partner Pasan Hettiarachchi (88) supported him well with seven boundaries. Both these players put on 140 runs for the third wicket. (SJ)
