Sripali retires from international cricket

Sri Lanka Women’s cricketer Sripali Weerakkody decided to retire from international cricket with immediate effect. She has officially informed her intention to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

The 34-year-old former fast bowling all-rounder has represented Sri Lanka in 89 ODI internationals and 58 T20 internationals.

Speaking to media Sripali said: “I have decided to call it a day. So I feel this is the right time for me. I played cricket for the last 16 years and it’s time for me to give the youngsters a chance in the national team plus I want to concentrate on my higher education.”
