New Zealand Test captain Kane Williamson and fast bowler Trent Boult will both be rested for next month’s T20 encounters against Sri Lanka, which will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

These encounters will be now played on 1, 3 and 6 September under lights. This will give pacer Tim Southee an opportunity to lead the Kiwi outfit in the three encounters in the Central Hills. Earlier, the first encounter, which was scheduled to be played at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, was shifted to Kandy due to the renovation in the Colombo grounds’ seating. Currently, Sri Lanka is leading the two-Test series 1-0, with the second Test to be played in Colombo later this week.
Janaka Pathirana will head the organising of these three matches at Pallekele.
