The Sri Lankan Under-23 football outfit will participate at the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers, which will take place in Qatar from 25-31 October.
Senior national team players Mohamed Aaqib and Dillion de Silva who were supposed to join the team were left out at the last moment. The side is led by Sasange Dilhara with Asela Madushan assisting him. Veteran in the football field and cricketer from Zahira College – Colombo Mohamed Amanullah is the Head Coach of the outfit.
Speaking to Daily FT from Qatar Amanullah said: "We missed out on Aaqib who had fever and our doctor told it’s too risky take him on tour. Further, Dillon, who returned from Maldives, too did not make it. I think his club has not released him for this tour.”
