Army Sports Club came out with a magnificent performance in the later half to register their first win this season when they beat Sri Lanka Navy by 18 points (2 tries, 1 conversion, 2 penalties) to 13 points (1 try, 1 conversion, 2 penalties) in their Sri Lanka Rugby conducted Inter Club Rugby encounter which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.
At the short breather scores were level on six a-piece.
Both teams preferred to keep the ball with their forwards in the earlier half. Once settled Solders looked a better unit. Madushan Hettiarachchi put over two penalties for the Solders while Sailors replied through their place kicker, Thilina Weerasinghe with two penalties.
After the turn around Army scored their two tries through Danushka Thalawaththa and Kalana Devapriya. Isuru Medagedera converted one of them. For Navy their only second half try was scored by former Isipathana giant, Sajith Saranga. Thilina Weerasinghe added the extra two points.

Today there will be two matches down for decision with the first one between CR and FC and Havelock SC at Longdon Place. This encounter is played for Mathiez Trophy.
In the other game CH and FC will host Sri Lanka Air Force at Race Course ground.
