Air Force winners of the Plate Segment

Sri Lanka Air Force SC lived up to their high expected standards when they edged out Sri Lanka Police SC in the Plate final of the Nippon Paint Inter Club Rugby league encounter 2022/2023 worked off at Police Park yesterday.
Sri Lanka Air Force won the encounter 11/5 to secure the Plate segment and placed fifth overall in the eight team event. At the short breather winners led 3/0.Both teams played out good open rugby but the defence was too tight to be broken through in the first 25 minutes of the game.
Sri Lanka Air Force drew first blood in the 26th minute through their scrum half, Nuwan Perera putting over a penalty for the Ratmalana outfit. This was the only scoring during the initial half. After turning around Nuwan Perera was on target with his second penalty kick to take the Air Force into a 6/0 lead.
Eight minutes later Ramdas Rumesh scored the only try of the game when he broke through the Police defence and was shell shocked by his move. Cops fought back when Heshan Thilakaratne touched down Police SC’s first try.
