The Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa, on the recommendation of the National Sports Council, the SLC Technical Committee and the National Selection Committee, has appointed former Sri Lanka fast-bowler Pramodya Wickramasinghe as the Chairman of the six-member cricket selection committee with immediate effect.
Other members of the committee are: Romesh Kaluwitharana, Hemantha Wickramaratne, Varuna Waragoda, Uvaisul Karnain and B.A. Thilaka Nilmini Gunaratne.
Until the appointment of this committee, cricket selections were done by a two-member committee comprising of Pramodya Wickramasinghe and Chaminda Mendis. Wickramasinghe accompanied the Sri Lanka team on their recent tour to West Indies as a tour selector where the national team lost both white ball series – T20I (2-1) and ODIs (3-0) to the West Indies and drew the two-Test series nil-all.
