Digital racing is where competitors take part in a virtual race against each other, using specially designed ‘Playseats’ to play a grand tourismo game on the PS4 platform. The playseats consist of a racing seat, together with pedals and a force feedback steering wheel to give the driver the real feel of a race car. Each playseat has its own TV screen which gives the driver the view of his or her race from the driving seat. Drivers are also provided with headsets so they can hear the sound of their own cars and be fully immersed in the full virtual experience. The CMSC will have up to 10 playseats so drivers can compete against each other. A master screen will show the race in progress so spectators can watch the action.
The first round of the championship was held in Matara in collaboration with the Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) and a practice session was held in Colombo a few weeks ago. Calvin Kingsley, who won the first round in Matara, and Huzifa Jafferjee, who won the practice session in Colombo, will be in action on Sunday.
Pre-registration is required and can be done online from the Speed Runs website or by emailing [email protected].
