Singer Sri Lanka’s medium pacer Rajitha Priyan claimed the weekend’s spotlight with an incredible bowling performance of 9 overs, 49 runs, 7 wickets, at the ongoing third Fair and Lovely Men – MCA ‘B’ Division 50-Over League Tournament 2020, which continued over the weekend.
Singer beat Pyramid Wilmer by 7 runs on the Duckworth Lewis method, thus registering their second win on the trot.
Singer, chasing a history target of 219 runs in 50 overs, was 141 for 4 in 36 overs, when bad light halted play.
Singer’s fifth-wicket pair of Navidu Nirmal (45 not out) and Geeth Kumar (32 not out) kept the scoreboard ticking with an unbroken stand of 72 runs in 114 balls which helped them beat the weather and the DLS par score of 135 runs.
The weekend’s batting spotlight fell on Pyramid Wilmer’s one-down batsman Suboda Lakmal, who top-scored with a sedate 83 runs off 133 balls, inclusive of 10 fours.
MAS Silueta too registered their second successive win with a convincing six-wicket triumph over HNB.
In a low-scoring game, CDB scored a cakewalk seven-wicket win over Unilever. This was CDB’s first win after a no result against Pyramid Wilmer and a loss to Singer Sri Lanka.
