St. Anthony’s College, after a disaster in round 1, bounced back in the Plate with the help of their Rugby Consultant Ronny Ibrahim.
They are hotly-favoured to regain their lost pride and move towards the Cup segment for the 2019 rugby season.
They beat Maliyadeva 45-36 and then got the better of D.S. Senanayake 16-14 in a close encounter before thrashing Lumbini MV by over 50 points.
Skipper Kavinda Amarakoon, Mohamed Makrim and Ishara Liyanage are the stars in the Katugastota outfit.Dharmaraja College also had a bad first round, losing all their matches but they bounced back to topple the high-riding Vidyartha outfit 29-24 thanks to a late second-half burst. They lost out to S. Thomas’ 17-7 in the second encounter. Bhavantha Udangamuwa, the younger brother of Kandy Number 8 Buwanka, is leading the side and is a player to watch out for. They also have Supun Wijesiri, one of the best scrumhalves on the school circuit this year, to conjure up some creative playmaking for the Rajans.
