Former Royal skipper, CR and FC/Kandy SC/Sri Lanka sevens and fifteens player Shehan Pathirana will retire from rugby to continue his business.
Shehan, popularly known as ‘Lema’ led the Royal outfit in 2011. After leaving Royal, he played for the Junior national team touring many Asian countries. At club rugby, he started off at CR & FC in 2011, before moving to Havelock SC, playing for three years at the Park Club. He crossed over to Kandy, playing for the up-country club since 2014. He was in their champion outfit for many years.
Shehan, who was an automatic choice for both the sevens and fifteens national team, represented the team for more than eight years. He was a fine forward.
He will retire and hang up his boots before moving back to Colombo to do his business commitments.
