By Shamseer Jaleel
The eagerly anticipated school rugby league tournament will kick off on 4 March with St. Peter’s College hosting Dharmaraja College at Bambalapitiya.
This time around, the league will see Dialog Axiata come on aboard as the competition’s new sponsor, replacing Singer Sri Lanka Ltd, which has starred in the role for more than 20 years. This year’s defending league champions are Royal College.
Royal College, St. Joseph’s College, S. Thomas’ College, Trinity College, Kingswood College and St. Anthony’s College will play in Division 1A while St. Peter’s College, Wesley College, Isipathana College, Science College, Vidyartha College and Dharmaraja College will lock horns in Division 1B.
After the first round, the top four teams from each group will play each other for the league championship.
Trinity College will play Royal College on 20 March in the league fixture of their traditional rugby rivalry. Later, both schools will lock horns during the second leg for the Bradby Shield.
