Liverpool: Sri Lanka lost another golden opportunity to make another giant killing performance at the Netball World Cup as they went down fighting to Samoa by 55-65 goals.
Sri Lanka came to the game with much confidence after beating arch rivals Singapore 88-50 and performed well in the first two quarters.
World No. 14 Samoa stunned with the play of the islanders and took a surprising 17-13 lead in the 1st quarter.
Pacific Islanders came back strongly in the second quarter and won that 19-10 as the Lankans lost the momentum.
The resistance not ended in the third and fourth quarters from Samoa but Lankans manage to handle the pressure with some interceptions but it was not enough to write a win against their name.
Samoa win the third quarter by 17 goals to 13.
Sri Lanka bounced back in the final quarter with some tactical approaches but the tired outfit could not make any impact to the final result after losing the last 16-15.
