Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday named the 15-member squad which will leave for New Zealand to take part in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held from 6 January-4 February 2018.
In a statement the SLC said: “Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekera, after considering the appeals made by concerned parties, approved the original squad sent by the SLC.”
However, a glaring omission is Ayana Siriwardena who captained the Under-19 team which toured India recently.
The squad comprises Kamindu Mendis – Captain, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Santhush Gunathilaka, Hasitha Boyagoda, Nawanidu Fernando, Nipun Dananjaya, Ashen Bandara, Kishan Sanjula, Nishan Madushka, Jehan Daniel, Praveen Jayawickrama, Haren Buddila, Thisaru Rashmika, Kalana Perera and Nipun Malinga.
