Sri Lanka’s 2021-22 domestic cricket season that was set to kick-off on 5 September with the Major Limited-Over Inter-Club tournament followed by the Major League Inter-Club tournament from 10 September has been indefinitely postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country.
Tournament Committee Chairman Samantha Dodanwala confirming the postponement said, “The way things are going at present in the country I don’t think it is advisable to play the tournament. We have to indefinitely postpone it. We will be informing the clubs of this decision by today. We will however give at least two to three weeks’ notice to the clubs prior to the commencement of the tournament so that they have time to prepare for it.”
