Bangladesh edged out Sri Lanka 1/0 in a tensed opener yesterday in the South Asian Football Federation encounter at the National Stadium in Maldives.
At the short breather there was no scoring by both the teams.
Sri Lanka led by Sujan Perera gave a good account of themselves but were very unlucky to lose out the game but gave a brilliant display of defence as well as attack. Topu Barman scored for Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka will play Nepal in their second encounter on 4 October. (SJ)
