Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will organise a three-week residential training camp for 75 selected Under-19 Provincial cricketers from 12 July onwards in Pallekelle and Asgiriya. Following the camp, a squad of 30 players will be shortlisted for the Asia Cup (UAE) and Under-19 World Cup (West Indies), as well as any other tours this year. As these players will be in a Bio-Bubble environment, there shouldn’t be any issue if any of them were to be drafted for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) set to start at the end of July.
Richmond College Head Coach Dhammika Sudharshana will be the Head Coach for the Under-19 touring squad for the two tours, taking over from Hashan Tillakaratne, who was recently appointed as the national Women’s team Head Coach.
The 75 players will be grouped into five squads of 15, each playing for Kandy, Western Province North, Western Province South, Dambulla and Southern. As part of the program, four T20s and 10 one-day matches (50 overs) will be played amongst these teams. All games will take place at the Asgiriya Stadium and Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium till August 1.
