Trinity College Rugby skipper of 2019 and Sevens winning captain of the school, Reshan Bandaranayake, ended his school career on a very high note, when he was awarded as the Sportsman of The Year 2019 at the esteemed institution in the Central Hills.
Reshan, who led the outfit in 2019 without even a colours under his belt, did really well to earn a Rugby “Lion” for his fantastic playing and leadership, where his team won the Sevens after 4 plus decades. Further, they made a bold attempt and narrowly missed out on re-claiming the Bradby Shield. Reshan’s brother Rashen won his Rugby colours, while his father, Rajiv too was a rugby “Lion” under that champion 1987 outfit under Tyrel Rajapakse. Reshan’s grandfather and great-grandfather too were “Lion” winners in rugby and cricket at Trinity College.
Reshan also created a history which will be tough to be beat in the future; within one day after leaving school, he led the Old Boys rugby outfit against the present team, which took place last weekend at Pallekele.
