Sri Lanka’s leading automotive seller and authorised local representative of Honda, Stafford Motors launched its innovative educational venture – ‘ProRide Safety Riding Academy’ in early September 2020, in a joint effort with ProRide Ltd., owned by the former racing legend Feroz Omar.
“Learning to ride might not be an easy task for a beginner. It requires careful supervision from experienced instructors during their novice period. Our well-trained instructors and demonstrations will deliver this task with advanced modern day training program packages that suit all riders with any level of experience. Classroom training will provide the required lessons to learn road signs and safety guidelines,” stated Feroz Omar at the ceremony.
This project was initiated under the objective of promoting safety riding in Sri Lanka, while following the Honda global safety principal ‘Safety for Everyone’ by utilising proper riding techniques through high quality training. Thereby, the establishment of ‘ProRide Safety Riding Academy’ will be instrumental in raising the riding standards of the two-wheeler riders of Sri Lanka, while formulating the importance of road safety and responsible riding on the minds of all riders at their formative ages.
The educational initiative will be backed by Stafford’s strength as the market leader of two-wheeler vehicles in Sri Lanka under the affiliation of the global brand Honda along with the guidance of the racing visionary Feroz Omar and the expertise of the established trainers with their vast experiences in the field of riding with specialised training from Honda Thailand. The state-of-the-art 300m long safety riding track situated at the ProRide premises has been developed according to the international safety and riding standards which provides the participants a comfortable riding experience. The facility consists of an air-conditioned classroom with multimedia projector facility, separate male and female washing and changing facilities, a technical workshop equipped with latest tools as well as ample parking space for participants. Further the facility has invested in a range of motorcycles to scooters from 100cc to 250cc with automatic and manual gear system, which provides every possible riding experience for the participants. The courses offered during this training will cater to new bike users/new license holders, new license seekers, corporate customers, and kids. Aspirant riders will be offered varied riding courses based on their age and requirement. Each basic course will consist of theory, demonstration and practical elements. And it will cover the techniques on riding posture, brake, balance, slalom, bumpy and cornering and all other relevant areas related to riding. The special training for kids will include outdoor training sessions covering the road crossing and traffic rules, whereas the indoor classroom sessions will cover the road signs and safety guidelines explained through interactive videos and games.
