Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep will miss Sri Lanka’s next World Cup game against Bangladesh in Bristol, Sri Lanka Cricket conformed yesterday, after the player suffered a dislocation and a cut on his bowling-arm finger in training.
“Nuwan [Pradeep] was given treatment at the hospital, while the doctors reset his dislocated finger and the cut on his finger was closed with stitches. He was also administered with antibiotics,” SLC team manager Asantha De Mel said in a statement. “Pradeep will not take part in Sri Lanka’s Game against Bangladesh on Tuesday, as he will need a week’s time to recover from the injury.’’
Pradeep, who picked up a four-wicket haul against Afghanistan in Cardiff last week to save Sri Lanka’s blushes, is one of three frontline pace bowlers in the Sri Lankan squad alongside Suranga Lakmal and Lasith Malinga, while allrounders Isuru Udana and Thisara Perera are also in the mix with their medium pace.
So far, Sri Lanka have won one, lost one and shared the spoils in their last game against Pakistan after it was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
