Police Sports Club pulled off a hard fought 27/16 win over CR & FC at Police Park yesterday.

At the short breather winners led 20/6.

According to a reliable sources CR has pulled out twice during the game, early in the first half, citing poor refereeing but did not walk off the playing area. CR & FC regular skipper Omalka Gunaratne who was in the bench for this game replaced an injured player in this half.

After the turn around when Omalka wanted to come in to the field he was declared not fit to take the field by the match doctor due to sore eyes. CR had objected saying if Omalka was allowed to play in the initial half, why the permission was not given in the later half. Further Police too have protested saying that CR & FC slowed down the game by bringing the game to a stoppage.

The CR & FC manager had taken the team off the field with 10 minutes from the final whistle. It’s interesting to see the action to be taken on this incident by the governing body Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR).
