PLC prevails over PABC in 667-run match

In a match where 667 runs were scored in 96 overs, Peoples Leasing & Finance (PLC) prevailed over Pan Asia Bank (PABC) by three wickets, in the first National Development Bank (NDB) Trophy MCA ‘C’ division 50 Over white ball League Tournament 2020, continued on 1 and 2 February.

PABC batting first hammered 337 for 7 in 50 Overs, propelled by a swashbuckling century by Sandaru Wickramaratne (108 in 83 balls, inclusive of four sixes and 10 fours); Wickramaratne was engaged in a 125 runs stand in 79 balls for the sixth wicket with Ravindu Thathsala (58).

Sameera Sandaruwan overshadowed Sandaru’s century with a responsible innings of 95 runs in 84 balls, inclusive of six sixes and four fours, as he took Peoples Leasing home and dry with three wickets in hand and four overs to spare (334 for 7 in 46 overs).

In an evenly contested game, HNB Finance nudged Commercial Bank by three wickets with Damith Perera playing the anchor for the financiers, scoring a well-compiled 93 in 67 balls with six sixes and 10 fours.

The weekend’s best bowling figures came from Gayashan Hettiarachchi from Commercial Credit who bagged five for 21 in eight overs, which two of them were maidens against Heshan Flexi, who crashed to 130 in 34 overs; Commercial Credit shed little sweat on reaching their target in 21.1 overs, losing only two wickets (133 for 2).
