The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka has come up with worthy project and a CSR project to mark the Olympic Day which is on 23 June.
The event is being organised on 25 June at Polhena, Matara with replanting the corals which is reducing and getting destroyed at a rapid pace.
On the same day Matara school children will involve in a run a 4 km distance which will start at Polhena at 3.30 p.m. and end at Uyanwatte Stadium. Many Sri Lankan past and present athletes will be in attendance including Olympic Silver Medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe.
Furthermore beach sports activities such as beach volleyball, beach Kabaddi, fun surfing and several other events are lined up along with an Art Competition has been launched for schools in the Matara area on the theme ‘give the coral another chance’. The winners of this event will be presented with prizes and certificates on 25 June plus their arts will be exhibited at this mega event.
NOC Sri Lanka President Suresh Subramaniam along with the hardworking Secretary Maxwell De Silva briefed the media session which took place at the NOC headquarters.
