The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club launched its membership drive from 9 July till 31 December aimed at attracting individual and corporate members. Founded in 1889, the NEGC is one of Asia’s oldest and celebrates its 130th anniversary this year. It offers an attractive holiday venue to NEGC members and their families at good value for money.
On the membership drive, rates for joining the club which is a one-time payment has been attractively discounted compared to the normal rates to commemorate its 130th year. Individuals get discounts from 25%-40%, and corporates get 50% per member.
“This is a truly unique opportunity for anyone to join one of the most prestigious golf clubs in the country with a rich history since the days of the European planters,” said NEGC President Major General Srinath Rajapakse.
“The club offers well-appointed holiday rooms including a charming cottage that sleeps eight persons, a restaurant that serves delicious cuisine, especially the specialty Nuwara Eliya pies, and a well-stocked book library which is the ideal place to curl up and read.”

Being centrally located in Nuwara Eliya, members can enjoy excursions to Horton Plains, Moon Plains, Mount Pedro, visit a working tea factory and even the Hakgala Botanical gardens within just a short drive out towards the countryside. For the more active visitor, nature walks around the golf course or cycling around Lake Gregory can be arranged from the special help desk at the Club.

The membership drive was flagged off by presenting the very first membership package to Capital Maharaja Organisation Group Director Chevaan Daniel. Kumar Sangakkara, who joined the NEGC membership recently and a very keen golfer himself, also endorsed the initiative.
