Nirekh and Chanaka move into final

Sixteen-year-old Nirekh Tejwani moved towards the final of the 132nd Amateur tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Golf which took place at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Nirekh was in terrific form when he got the better of another youngster K. Danushan 5/4, in the semi-final. While defending champion Chanaka Perera too moved towards the final with a 5/3 win over K. Amarapatha.

Both Balasuriya girls, Taniya and Sherin, will battle in the Ladies’ final after getting the better of Anouk and Shyanika in their semi-final encounters yesterday.

The finals of Gents and Ladies will take place over 36 holes. Meanwhile, the F.B. De Mel Cup final would be of 18 holes. All these three finals will tee off in the morning hours today (10 Sept.) at RCGC course in Borella.
