Nippon Paint Rugby League 2022 postponed

 Nippon Inter Club Rugby League 2022 be postponed till month end

Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) conducted Nippon Paint Rugby League 2022 was postponed and the re-start of the tournament in order to complete the League segments of Cup and Plate will be notified in due course. 

This was communicated by SLR after having an emergency EXCO meeting yesterday. The Sponsor of the tournament Nippon Paint too had requested for a postponement due to the present situation in the country.

As per communication from SLR, the Inter Club Sevens is scheduled to take place on 23 and 24 April at the Race Course ground in Colombo if the situation returns to normal. This will allow Sri Lanka to name a squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022 which will take place in Birmingham, England. The last date to submit the squad is 30 April.

Three matches from Plate and four matches from Cup segments are to be completed with the defending champions, Kandy SC and Havies as the front runners for the Cup. 

Meanwhile both Navy SC and FC and Air Force SC are equally favoured to win the Plate segment. But no one can write off the Red Shirts as they too have got two matches to be completed in the Plate segment.
