The new rugby season will kick off with the Nippon Paint Rugby League 2022-2023 with some tough competition among the clubs promising lot of excitement and fun for the rugby fans. The new tournament will see the defending champions, Kandy SC, CH and FC, CR and FC, Havelock SC, Army SC, Police SC, Navy SC and Air Force Sc playing for honour of the championship.
Both Nippon Paint and Sri Lanka Rugby have a history of around 140 plus years each. They have face to overcome challenges and have proved their strength and durability, traits seen regularly in the rough and tumble of every rugby encounters.
Sri Lanka Rugby President Rizly Ilyas said: “We have had a strong association with Nippon Paint Lanka as a sponsor and we are keen to continue that sponsorship. They have sponsored Sri Lanka Rugby in International and local competitions and is encouraging new talent through sponsorship of rugby in schools. Even though it was shortened, we also had a very successful tournament last year culminating in a gala awards nights sponsored by Nippon Paint.”– SJ
