The 49th edition of the Mercantile Rugby Football ‘Sevens’, together with the Third Women’s Tag Rugby Sevens 2019 conducted by the Mercantile Rugby Football Association, will be held on 19, 20 and 21 July at CR&FC grounds in Longdon Place.
Entries are called from MRFA affiliated firms and newcomers for the Men and Women’s Tournaments, closing on 5 July.

The briefing for the captains and secretaries of aspiring teams was held on Wednesday 26 June 6.30 p.m. at the CR&FC Old Pavilion. All details and the new laws pertaining to the tournament was explained by senior officials from the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees Tony Amith, Anil Jayasinghe and Shamrath Fernando.
In the previous tournament held on 20, 21 and 22 July 2018 at the Race Course International Rugby Football Stadium, where 33 teams took part, Access Group regained the Cup beating Dialog Axiata ‘A’; John Keells ‘B’ won the Plate, beating Classic Travel; CDB won the Bowl, beating Allianz Insurance, and Dialog ‘B’ won the Shield, beating Ceylon Tea Brokers.
