Former captain and Sri Lanka’s most senior cricketer Angelo Mathews was ruled out of the ongoing first cricket Test against Australia at the Galle International Cricket Stadium after being tested COVID-19 positive.
Mathews was found to be positive during a rapid antigen test conducted on him on Thursday. The test was done as he was not feeling well.
Accordingly, Mathews has been isolated from the rest of the team members and is following COVID-19 protocols, a Sri Lanka Cricket media release stated.
Oshada Fernando was included in the playing 11 as the COVID-19 replacement for Mathews.
