Action in the finals
By Shamseer Jaleel
Seychelles pulled off a sensational 3/1 win over the hosts in penalty shootout against Sri Lanka after the game ended in a 3-a-piece draw after full time.
At the short breather, Sri Lanka led 3/1.
For the hosts, Hamilton, Aaakib and Razeek scored the goals while the visitor’s goals were scored through Jean, Marie and Woodley. After the game ended in a 3-3 draw, in the penalty shootout Seychelles won 3/1.
Sri Lankan skipper Sujan Perera and ever green Waseem Razeek were outstanding not only in this game but throughout the tournament. Waseem remained as the highest goal scorer of the tournament. He ripped through the opposition defence a number of times. His ghosting moves were a constant occurrence which was a major issue for the visiting team.
Sri Lanka played minus two of their key players Dillion de Silva and Kavindu Ishan, both sustained leg injuries in the Bangladesh match.
Referee for the finals was Mohammedh Al Shammari (Qatar).
