MHA nine-a-side tournament concludes

The second Mercantile Hockey Association (MHA), nine-a-side hockey tournament 2022, sponsored by Swisstek Aluminum, was concluded on 3 September at the Torrington Astro Turf.

The tournament saw 15 teams in four divisions participating, consisting of 28 matches, including the four finals.

HNB “A” retained the “A” division title, beating Sampath Bank “A”, 5/2; Player of the final / Damith Bandara from HNB “A”.
In the “B” division Final, Hayleys Group beat HSBC, 2/0; Player of the Final / Bodhika Dias from Hayleys.
In the “C” division Final: Browns Group beat Seylan Bank, 2/0; Player of the final / Pathum Proboda from Browns Group.
The “D” division Final, between Sampath Bank “B” and Nations Trust Bank, had to be decided on penalties, as the scores stood deadlocked 0-0 at full time. Sampath Bank “B” won the penalty shoot-out 8/7 Man of the Final /Isanka Samarasinghe from Sampath Bank “B”.

Head of Marketing Gihan de Silva (Chief Guest) and Business Development Manager Lasith Karunathilaka (Guest of Honour) – both from Swisstek Aluminum, gave away the awards after the tournament.
