The Mercantile Cricket Association for the first time in their 112-year-old history will conduct a cricket tournament out of Colombo.
The tournament, the concept of the incumbent MCA President Nalin Wickramasinghe, tagged as the “Ban-Fin” Cricket “Sixes” 2023 will be exclusively conducted involving our financial sector; three banks and six finance companies are in the fray, vying for the brand new MCA Trophy.
The tournament with coloured clothing and white ball, using the International Hong Kong Sixes rules and playing conditions will take place this Saturday, 11 March at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, commencing 8.30 a.m.
The Groupings:
In the first stage of the tournament, the nine teams will play a round-robin, consisting nine matches. At the completion, the three group leaders and the best second placed team from all groups will advance to the final round consisting of the Semi-finals and the Final.
The four special awards on offer are for the Best Batter, Bowler, Most Sixes and Man of the Final.
The tournament is partnered by Nippon Paint and National Development Bank (NDB).
