Former Royal skipper, Kandy SC cracking forward and national player, “Lema” Shehan Pathirana who retired recently will be back with the Kandy SC for the remainder of the League encounters for the Up-Country club.
Shehan, speaking to Daily FT said: “I learnt a lot from Kandy Sports Club which has done a lot for me as a player, supporting me throughout my rugby career. This is a critical moment for the Club as majority of the forwards are freshers and most seniors cannot play the next few matches. I want to be with them till the league is over. I am already in Kandy.”
Shehan is expected to be part of the Kandy unit for their last two games in the starting line-up against Army SC (12 March) away in Colombo and Havelock SC (20 March) at Nittawela. He will be remaining with the squad for the second round four encounters as well.
Kandy SC Manager Kapila Silva, speaking to Daily FT said: “It’s a big heart by one of our former players to come out of retirement and play for the club at a tough situation. A few of our forwards will not be able to play the next few matches and a player of Shehan’s calibre coming in is a big bonus for the club.”
