England Test opener Alex Lees led a run-spree against Sri Lanka Cricket Board XI on the opening day of England Lions’ three-day warm-up match at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday with an authoritative century.
Lees struck 12 fours and two sixes in compiling 103 off 98 balls as England Lions winning the toss and batting first scored 413-8 declared off 67 overs.
Joining the run parade with half-centuries were Tom Abell (57 off 58 balls, 11 fours), Josh Bohannon (58 off 38 balls, 7 fours), Jack Haynes (63* with 4 fours, 1 six) and Jamie Smith (50 with 8 fours, 1 six).
Pick of the SLC Board XI bowlers was Janith Liyanage with three wickets bowling right-arm fast-medium.
By the close SLC Board XI were 93-2 with opener Nishan Madushka unbeaten on 56 with the aid of 11 fours.
