Bad weather affected 86 of the 156 matches that ended in a No Result
Last year’s finalists NCC and Ragama CC will meet in one semi-final of the SLC Major Limited Overs tournament at the Army grounds in Dombagoda tomorrow.
The other semi-final, which is also played to be played tomorrow, is between Sri Lanka Army SC and Tamil Union at Surrey Village, Maggona.
The final will take place at the P. Sara Oval on 30 November.
The winners of the final will collect a cheque for Rs. 750,000 and the runner-up Rs. 500,000.
Army SC and NCC finished one-two in Group A and, Ragama CC and Tamil Union finished similarly in Group B to qualify for the knockout round.
The group stage of the tournament was marred by bad weather with 86 of the 156 matches completed ending in a No-Result which is 55.1% with a good many of them abandoned without a ball bowled.
Worst to suffer from the adverse weather conditions were CCC who had 10 of their 12 matches ending in a No Result and SSC who had 9 No Results out of 12. There was more No Result decisions than wins and losses in the league stage.
NCC are the defending champions having won the title beating Ragama CC in the final last year by 145 runs. (ST)
