The Lanka Cavaliers, under the Presidency of Tony Gunawardena, will celebrate their 22nd Anniversary with the seventh edition of the Veterans Cricket ‘Sixes’ on 24 August at the Bloomfield C&AC Grounds, Reid Avenue.
The following 10 teams have confirmed participation: Vintage Cricket Circle, Mercantile Cricket Association, Old Thurstanites, Olcott Schools, Colombo Masters, Galle Veterans, Kotte Thomian, Adastrians, and the two new entrants, Doctors ‘Bashers’ and Doctors II.
A team should consist of five Over-45 players and one over-50 player.
The tournament will be conducted on the same lines of the Hong Kong International Cricket ‘Sixes’.
In the previous tournament held on 26 August 2018 at the same venue, Vintage Cricket Circle beat MCA in the final.
The four special awards on offer are Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Final, and the Most Senior Player to take the field.
The Steering Committee, comprising Tony Gunawardena (Chairman), Sirosha Gunatillake, Pemlal Fernando, Nevin Noyhar, Manoj Perera, Riaz Farouk, Ravi Subasinghe, Manuja Kariyapperuma, Ravi Subasinghe and Tyrone Perera, at a meeting held at the MCA on Monday, decided to hold the draw on 20 August at the MCA Pavilion Lounge in the presence of the captains from the participating teams.
Former National players Hashan Tillakaratne and Roshan Mahanama will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
