Graeme Labrooy has been reappointed as Sri Lanka Cricket’s Chairman of Selectors, while head coach Chandika Hathurusingha’s role as selector-on-tour has also been rubber-stamped.
Among the key changes to the committee is the removal of Asanka Gurusinha, after his recent appointment as Chief Cricket Operations Officer at SLC, while Eric Upashantha replaces Sajith Fernando. No other changes were announced, and as such, Gamini Wickremasinghe and Jeryl Woutersz retain their places in the committee.
Hathurusingha’s role meanwhile is understood to span more than his title suggests, as since he has been in the role since last January, he also has considerable sway when it comes to squad selection, despite not having any official powers.
The committee’s next assignment will be the selection of the squad ahead of Sri Lanka’s home series against South Africa in July.
