Kumudu Priyanka and Amila Prashan
Kumudu Priyanka took take part in her last event at the competition yesterday (11) in the fifth day of the World Para Athletics Championship currently underway in Dubai.
31 year old Priyanka competed in the women’s T46 100m event where she failed to progress beyond the first heat, but nevertheless she was able to improve her personal best timing, clocking 13.71 seconds, bettering her previous performance of 14.28 seconds.
Lu Li of China won the heat with a time of 12.54 and Angelina Lanza finished second with the time of 12.60 seconds to earn herself a position in the finals.
Priyanka also competed in the women’s Long Jump T47 event last Saturday and recorded a distance of 4.51m to register her personal best.
Amila Prashan meanwhile was due to compete in Men’s T44/64 Men’s High Jump event on Monday evening. The event was scheduled at 19.00 local time. The medal prospect in this event is limited for the Sri Lankan, but Amila will attempt to better his personal best of 1.55m .
Buddika Indrapala will meanwhile compete in the Men’s High Jump T63 event as the last of the Sri Lankan contingent on Thursday (14). (HW)
