Former Trinity, Havies SC and Sri Lankan player, Kavinda Jayasena was appointed as the Match Commissioner by World Rugby. His schoolmate Ana Wijeratne too was honoured with the same award.
They will be assigned for the tournament involving Asian countries in the sevens and fifteens encounters in the near future.
Ana led the Dimbulla-Dickoya Sports Club in the annual Capper Cup in 1986, he had officiated in five Carlton Sevens International Tournaments. He was also in the Technical Committee of the Dubai Sevens in 2014 and also for a similar tournament in Kenya. Ana too was educated at Trinity College.
Kavinda has completed the World Rugby Level One and Two Coaching. He has also completed the World Rugby Level One 7 A side Coaching. Kavinda represented Trinity at all age group starting from under 13 to Under 19. He won the highest award Rugby “Lion”.
From 2001 onwards he played for the Park Club leading the outfit in 2008 and 2011. He was judged as the best player in the league during 1999-2000 season. After his playing days he was the Team Manager at Havies and ended as the High Performance Manager of Sri Lanka Rugby.
