Kandy got the better of exchanges against Jaffna in their National Super League 4-day tournament top of the table clash which ended in a tame draw at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Having gained a first innings lead of 185, Kandy closed their second innings at 322-5 at the fall of skipper Kamindu Mendis’ wicket for a well-constructed innings of 137 off 234 balls (10 fours, 2 sixes) leaving first innings century-maker Sahan Arachchige unbeaten on 65 scored off 135 balls (4 fours, 1 six). Lahiru Udara also chipped in with 65 off 89 balls (8 fours). The first innings points Kandy gained from the contest took them to the top of the table with Jaffna dropping to third spot behind Colombo who recorded a three-day innings win over Dambulla on Saturday.
