KTM – Sri Lanka brand ambassador Jacques Gunawardena has officially been crowned the Motocross National Championship – 2019 at a gala event held at the Eagle Lakeside at Attidiya this month.
The 20-year-old racer has been in the frontline of championship racing with almost eight wins in his name in the season.
Claiming the overall championship at NEM Motocross in Nuwara Eliya in April, Jacques took a good start to the 2019 season and he grabbed trophies at almost all subsequent races.

Young racer Jacques labelled his achievements this year, both on and off the track, as ‘the best’ of his career. “It has been the best year I would say of my career I am really proud of what I’ve achieved and there’s huge team behind this success including KTM Sri Lanka team from David Pieris Motor Company. The season as a whole was strong,” he said with a gleaming smile on his face.
“I must thank KTM-Sri Lanka for sponsoring me this season and as always it was the KTM which behind my success. As the most trusted racing brand in the world, KTM has given me an utmost support to fulfil my racing dream,” he added.
