Contrary to the opinions that some people have expressed about the Lanka Premier League (LPL) that was concluded successfully for the second successive year, there are a lot of plus factors that emerged from it.
While it provides a base for youngsters to showcase their talents on the international stage, there are also other advantages like them learning the game from international stars by mingling with them during practices and during matches.
One of the up-and-coming youngsters who benefitted from the LPL is 20-year-old right-arm leg-spinner from Central College, Jaffna, Vijayakanth Vijaskanth, who represented champions Jaffna Kings.
Imran Tahir, the former South African leg-spinner who played for Dambulla Giants, shared some bowling tips with the Jaffna youngsters during the LPL, teaching him the fine art of leg-break and googly bowling where he carved a niche in the shorter formats.
