Isipathana College booked their semi-final berth in the Milo President’s Knock-out Trophy 2019 when they edged out Joes 19/17 in their quarter-final worked off at the Royal Sports Complex.
Isipathana led 14/10 at the short breather.
St. Joseph’s drew first blood earlier in the game through Santhush Algama’s boots with a penalty kick. But the lead was short lived as the player of the day Ramith de Silva scored a superb try for in the 15th minute of the game.
Ruberu added the extra two points to take the lead at 7/3. Ramith de Silva who was unstoppable sscored his second try minutes later. Ruberu added another two points to increase the lead to 14/3. Joes hit back with some good work by their forwards which ended in a try for burlyShevon Gregory. Santhu Algama was on target with the conversion kick.
After the turn Shevon Gregory scored his second try and Santhush Algama conversion gave them the lead to 17/14.
Isipathana continued with their attack and ended in scoring a try through their forward Venura Kodagoda.
During the injury time Santhush Algama attempted a 60-meter penalty which fell short of the crossbar.
