Investment banker Mohamed Riyaz will take over the vital Treasurer position at Sri Lanka Rugby with immediate effect.
He will take over from Dinesh Perera who resigned last month after the Annual General Meeting.
He served as the Treasurer at Sri Lanka Rugby during the period 2016 and a product of Isipathana College who held many positions in the OBA as Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President.
As per SLR Constitution, a SGM called for the post of Treasurer and Mohamed Riyaz was proposed by Wayamba Province and seconded by Sabragamuwa province and appointed as SLR Treasurer with immediate effect. Riyaz has over 33 years’ experience in management consultancy, corporate finance, investment management, risk management, finance/treasury operations, venture capital and primary dealer operations.
He is an accountant by profession with ACMA (UK), CGMA, BBA (Hons.) – 2nd class upper from University of Colombo and MSc in Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He held many senior level positions as Executive Director/CEO in regulated bodies and
currently working as the CEO for a venture capital company.
