Despite last week’s discussions with the health authorities and the country’s President and getting the green light for the Lanka Premier League (LPL), Sri Lanka Cricket was still awaiting the health guidelines from the Ministry of Health. “The health guidelines are pending the signature of the Director-General Dr. Asela Gunawardena,” said LPL Tournament Director Ravin Wickramaratne.
“The tournament will go on but we need to get across the health guidelines to the relevant parties, the franchises and the tournament promoter,” he said. The LPL involving 30 overseas players and all the national Sri Lanka cricketers is due to commence on 26 November and conclude on 16 December with all the matches being played at one venue – the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Sooriyawewa.
