The Havelocks Sports Club became the latest team to pull out of the Dialog Rugby Inter-Club Sevens’ second leg, which is scheduled to take place at the Racecourse rugby grounds this weekend.
One week ago defending first-leg winners Kandy pulled out of the tournament citing injuries to their players. Meanwhile, CR&FC, who opted to stay away from the first leg, confirmed their participation in the second leg.
Speaking to the Daily FT, Havies Head Coach Sanath Martis confirmed that the park club would not feature in the second leg due to injuries to their players and the team’s need for rest.
Havies lost nearly five of their senior national players to CH&FC this season. Former St. Peter’s College and Sri Lanka player Sharo Fernando is tipped to lead Havies in the club league encounters later this year.
