The Government Servants’ Tennis Club, popularly known as GSTC, successfully completed a mega prize money ranking tournament recently, while strictly following all COVID protocols.
The GSTC Prestige prize money all-island double’s tournament attracted a record number of entries in the Men’s as well as the Women’s categories.
The prize money was the biggest-ever in the history of Sri Lankan tennis for a double’s tournament. The Men’s as well as the Women’s doubles Champions were given an attractive cash prize of Rs. 100,000 each while the Runners-up pairs in both categories got Rs. 50,000 each. They also got trophies and a gift pack from Yeti.
After the finals, the four finalists were invited to plant four mahogany tree saplings along the boundary of the club premises as a gesture to support the environment.
GSTC has three regularly maintained clay courts and has recently floodlit all the courts too.
The Government Servants’ Tennis Club is nearly a century-old tennis club and attracts juniors, veterans and the budding youngsters too into its membership fold.
The results of the final matches were as follows:
Men’s Doubles:

Score: 6-2 6-1
Women’s Doubles:
Champions: Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi
Runner’s up: Amritha Muttiah M. and Kemalie Herath
Score: 6-3 6-0
