Former Trinity College, Havelock SC, national rugby player, former national coach, former National selector, former President of the Sri Lanka Referees Society, former President of Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) passed away yesterday following a brief illness.
Gamini was a top-class player, coach, referee, rugby administrator, rugby lover and promoter. He played for Trinity College in 1958 under Ken de Joodt and 1959 under Denzil Kobbekaduwa.
He was also a fine cricketer representing Trinity in 1960. In 1961, he and Y.C. Chang both turned out for Havelock Sports Club.
He led the Park Road club in 1967 and nine years later was the national rugby coach in 1978 plus the President of SLRFU.
